How Does it Work?
During treatment, a laser concentrates energy beams on the hair follicles during their growth stage. The pigment in the hair follicles absorbs the energy of the laser, which disables or destroys the hair follicle. Disabled or damaged hair follicles can no longer grow strong hair. To ensure your treatment is as effective as possible, every follicle in the treatment area must be addressed by the laser during the growth stage of the hair. What Parts of the Body Can Be Treated?
Diolaze XL laser hair removal technology can be safely used on most areas of the body. The treatment can eliminate thick and dark unwanted hair with ease from large areas such as the back, chest, stomach and legs. Can Blonde, Gray or Light Hair be Removed?
Yes! Lighter hair is very difficult for the laser to treat because it is the pigment in the hair that what attracts the laser beam to destroy the hair growth. Red hair cannot normally be treated - but can be considered if the hair shaft contains brown pigment. It’s about the treatment area hair - not the hair on your head! Dark haired clients with fair skin are the easiest clients to treat, but don’t make that decision yourself - leave it to an expert - Book a free consultation to see if you are a good candidate.
I have very dark skin and have heard I should not have laser treatments because of the risk of burning or scarring of the skin. Is this true?
While this once was the case, we’re happy to report that using new laser technology has yielded a safe experience for clients with darker skin types. Uniquely designed lasers protect the skin while achieving excellent hair removal results. And, as we reduce the hair growth, we even can reduce the pigmentation changes (caused by ingrown hairs) that commonly arise in people with dark colored skin. The pigmentation on the skin that is caused by ingrown hairs will be markedly reduced after laser hair removal.

Will Hair Bumps and Razor Bumps be Gone?
This is one of the great beneficial side effects of laser hair removal. Reduction of hair bumps and ingrown hairs will be markedly noticeable even after your first session. We have seen this on all body parts including face, neck, bikini line, legs, backs and underarms.
How Many Sessions Will I Need?
Diolaze XL treats the hair follicles faster than other laser therapy treatments and can be completed in four to six 20 to 30-minute sessions. Smaller treatment areas like the upper lip can be treated in minutes, and multiple areas of the body can be treated in a single session. Each session will be approximately four to six weeks apart to maximize results. During this time, the treated hair follicles will become inactive and the hairs will fall out. Best results are observed after 4-6 sessions. The number of sessions will differ depending on the hair color, hair type, body area and skin tone.
How Much Time After a Session is the Next Session?
Laser hair removal works best when hair follicles are in their mature stage; however, at any given time your hair is in various stages of growth. The number of treatments typically vary between 6-8 sessions every 4-6 weeks. As treatment proceeds, the intervals become longer apart. There are longer intervals for body hair (6-8 weeks) than for facial hair (4-6 weeks) in the first 3 sessions. In subsequent sessions, the intervals on the face may increase to 8 weeks and the body to 10-12. Legs may require even longer intervals. Lighter and deeper hair, as well as hormonally controlled areas, such as chin, are more resistant and may require more treatment sessions. All of these variables are evaluated at each appointment.
Is There Down Time?
While it may sound too good to be true, there really is no lengthy recovery period required with laser hair removal. You can leave the office and immediately return to work, school or leisure time. The most discomfort you will feel can be compared to a minor sunburn that should go away within a few days. A cold compress can be used to help cool the treated areas. Some patients may experience redness and itching, but that too will fade within a matter of days.

What do i do to prepare for Treatment?
We ask that you refrain from plucking or waxing for about six weeks prior to your appointment. The reason being that the laser targets pigment in the roots of the hair. If the roots are plucked or waxed out, there’s really nothing to absorb the laser. Also, avoid sun exposure for six weeks before your treatment. The sun’s rays affect the skin and may interfere with the laser’s effectiveness. It can also exacerbate any potential side effects.

When can I Expect Results from Laser Hair Removal?
It usually takes about two to three weeks to notice a difference in the hair growth after your first treatment. Many of our patients see a big difference after their first session with some reporting a 50% reduction in hair, but experience has taught us that they will see regrowth in the first few sessions, which gradually reduces and no growth after 6 sessions. Full reduction of hair growth typically occurs after a series of eight to twelve treatments. Since everyone is different, we’ll make sure to go over all details of what you can expect during your consultation. Optimal results are observed after six to eight sessions. By then, you should see an 80-90 percent reduction in hair growth. The follicles that remain are damaged and produce a finer hair than you had before laser treatment. You can expect to shave much less than you do now. Some of our patients shave once a week, some once a month; some don’t have to shave at all.
The number of sessions will vary depending on your hair color, hair type, body area, and skin tone. Although, we do recommend 8 treatments for optimal reduction. You will have to come in for touch ups following hair removal due to changes in hormones, and fluctuations in hair growth.
